We do primary language school visits – we’ll come to your school and teach your children or train your staff!

Celebrate primary languages with a day of authentic Spanish, Italian, English or French playground games for children from age 4 to 12 – we’ll do the teaching with a tailor-made package designed specifically for your school.

Alternatively, book an INSET workshop to exploit the resources on this web site to maximum effect, delivered by an experienced specialist primary MFL teacher and aimed at all staff. Training is tailored to individual schools’ needs, with a choice of four main languages: French; Spanish; Italian and English.

Playground Games DVDs for schools in French, English and Spanish

PMFL is dedicated to promoting the enjoyment of primary languages as well as encouraging intercultural understanding and international cooperation. We provide an exciting range of primary French, primary Spanish and primary English DVD resources based on the theme of traditional and modern playground games.

PMFL’s DVD primary language resources use films of children playing a fantastic range of playground games – clapping games, skipping games, circle games, chasing games and many more kinds of games which are used every day by children across Europe as an integral part of playground culture. Each playground game has some authentic linguistic content, spoken or sung by native speakers. For more information and the specific playground games on each disc, please see the links to the different language pages above.

Comprehensive multilingual teacher’s notes on each DVD provide planning ideas, lyrics and translations to exploit these primary language resources to maximum effect with the children you teach. Optional subtitles in the language of the playground games help to further support teaching and learning activities.

What teachers say about our primary languages resources and CPD

Hi Andy,

Your playground games DVD has arrived and it just looks so good!!! I love the clapping games and already know that next week I will start with Tic Tac Toc. The possibility of switching on the subtitles is very good. It’s really the best of the materials I’ve ordered until now. My compliments!

Joke Beukema, Primary Teacher, Netherlands

¡Hola Andy!

We’ve used your 25 English Playground Games DVD a lot since buying it. The range of playground games is great – there’s something for all ages and all levels in our primary school. We really like the PDF Teacher’s Notes planning document in Spanish and English (French, Italian and German too!). There are some great ideas in the planning about how to work with the playground games and you don’t have to print it out: very green!

Dear Andy,

Many thanks for the past two days. We have thoroughly enjoyed having you here and have learned lots of new, exciting songs, rhymes and playground games. Members of staff have told me that the children were really engaged. I have seen children practising in the playground and even in class this morning! As I have walked through school I have heard little Mancunian voices speaking Spanish! It has been wonderful. We would most definitely invite you back to school and recommend you to other schools. Muchas gracias otra vez.

Nicola Rice, Greenside Primary School

Primary languages in the global classroom

As teachers we strive to broaden the horizons of the children we teach and help them to develop an understanding of their own place in an increasingly global community, promoting the messages of acceptance and tolerance, teamwork and communication. This series of DVD primary language resources aims to support this ethos, giving children the opportunity to develop their linguistic abilities, share in the cultures of others and have fun as they learn.
